4 Ways to Be A Better Business DAd

Business Dad

It’s not easy being a business dad. You have to juggle work demands with your family’s needs, and it can be tough to find balance. As I have always said, the work/life balance is a myth. It is essential to manage your life cycles as best you can to be successful in both areas. This blog post will discuss tips for finding work/life balance and managing life cycles as a business dad.

Be Prepared for the Unexpected:

You never know when a business and family emergency will pop up, so it’s essential to be prepared. Have a backup plan for childcare and business care. One thing that I have learnt from several business leaders is to be open about the business operations so that, if need be, someone can step in and support the business. It would be best if you had a support network in place so that you could share your struggles, frustrations and your wins. This is one area that The Ambitious Business Dad Pathway helps.

Make Time for Family:

It can be hard to find time for family when you’re running a business, but it’s essential to make time for the people who matter most. Set aside time each week to spend with your spouse and children. Block out your calendar; everyone talks about date night, but what a play night when you plan exciting/different things to do with the children. This will help you relax and recharge to be a better business dad.

Delegate and Let Go:

You can’t do it all, and that’s okay. As a business dad, you must learn to delegate and let go — delegate tasks to others at work and at home. And don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Letting go can be challenging, but it’s necessary if you want to become a better leader at home and in the business. This is the change from being a manager to becoming a leader. As a business founder or owner, letting go can be really difficult. As one business dad said, “I spent so much energy and time in the business it became another family member”.

Take Care of Yourself:

You can’t take care of your business and your family if you’re not taking care of yourself. Make sure to schedule time for exercise, relaxation, and self-care. Having spent 15 years working with professional athletes, I know that health is vital to performance and success. But unfortunately, “health time” is the first thing that goes when the pressure is on.

Do you need to get up a 5 am and go to the gym? No, if you can and want to, well done. But humans are designed to move, change body position and breathe.

Do you need to meditate for 30 mins every day? No, but some time away to focus your attention, or again, to breathe will help.

Do you need to count calories? No, but ensuring that we understand what and how much we eat is essential. Just because we are not athletes does not mean that we will not benefit from a healthy diet with some relaxed eating. Check out my video on how to improve your energy management here.

We must understand that leaders recreate leaders; if you want a healthy home and business, you must show the way.

This will help you stay healthy and be a better business dad.
